Astro-Journaling ✿
how you can form an intimate connection with any planet/transit ♥︎
Astro-Journaling is how I integrate astrological transits into my journalling practice. It’s a great way to observe (first-hand!) how the planets weave stories into our lives.
My favourite way to use this technique is for Jupiter’s transits as Jupiter stays in a sign for a year. As Jupiter (or any planet!) traverses a sign, it aspects the planets in our chart. Through this, a story unfolds in our life.
Because we live in a time where we document everything, we can reflect on a transit and see exactly what went down in our life. The best time to do this is after a transit has ended so you have more perspective (a ‘bird’s eye view’.)
You’ll need:
A notebook/journal
An ephemeris
Your birth chart
Some basic astrology knowledge
Your phone/laptop so you can access your photo gallery (and even documents/files and emails/texts)
I know an ephemeris looks complicated, but it’s just a calendar that shows the movement of a planet through a sign. It’s essentially the degree of the sign that’s being travelled each day (by the planet.)
The process of Astro-Journaling is very simple:
Check how the transiting planet was aspecting your placements and the dates when the aspects were exact.
Compare those dates to your gallery and see what was happening in your life on those dates. You can even check your emails (and credit card bills lol.)
Reflect on that! Focus mainly on aspects to your seven traditional planets and the four angles in your chart (and the lots if you want.)
Let’s take an example of Jupiter in Cancer and my chart!
The very first aspect Jupiter made to my chart was a trine to my Lot of Spirit at 1° Pisces. The aspect was exact during 15th-18th June 2025. On these days, I was working on creating my astrology offerings! My LoS is in my 9th house so it’s tied to my work as an astrologer. It’s also very literal since it’s in the early degrees and I was literally starting from scratch with my offerings!

Next, Jupiter conjoined my natal Jupiter at 5° Cancer (my Jupiter return!) and trined my Sun at 5° Pisces during 2nd-5th July 2025. I was working on designing my offerings, and had a performance in my dance class! I even took pictures in a photo-booth (which is giving peak single vibes lol.) There was clearly a lot of emphasis on the ‘self’ and even visibility, since Jupiter is in my 1st house and my Sun in Pisces reflects my work!

After that, Jupiter squared my MC at 10° Aries / my IC at 10° Libra during 25th-28th July. That’s when I spoke on the stage (MC!) and found an old dress from my childhood (IC!) It’s crazy how literal this was, but that’s just how cool astrology is!

And so on with other placements…you get the point!!
A planet will aspect some of your placements three times, due to the planet retrograding. So it’ll aspect it first when direct, once while its retrograde, and once again after it stations direct. This will be even more interesting to see because the manifestations of the planet’s themes will ‘evolve’ due to the retrograde.
You can do this with shorter transits too, like when the Moon transits a sign (which only lasts 2.5-3 days!) So you can check the few hours when the Moon was aspecting a planet in your chart and how it impacted your mood and daily routine. Use an app like TimePassages to track the movement of planets in real time. For longer transits like Jupiter, I’d recommend journaling after the whole transit ends (so you can experience the full one year transit and then reflect on it.)
You don’t have to do this with every planet, but you can! Even doing this with the Lunar Nodes can be super insightful and magical.
This technique will help you truly see how a transit impacts your life (in both mundane and major ways.) It’ll deepen your understanding of astrological transits and even your own chart. It’s also a great way to connect with yourself and the cycles of your life.
I’ve done this technique for transits like Jupiter in Taurus and Jupiter in Gemini. I realised just how literal the planetary manifestations are. For example, when Jupiter in Gemini was opposing my natal Pluto back in 2024, I found an old dress I was searching for since 2019! Something hidden/buried is very Pluto. And since it’s an opposition, the hidden thing was revealed! These types of things make you understand how a planet’s essence shows up in the most mundane ways.
Astro-Journaling is truly a magical way to form an intimate connection with the planets <3
